Why: Learn and Laugh Your Yak-Off!
Branson, MO (Monday, January 29, 2007) - Funny philosopher Yakov takes a turn as Professor Smirnoff at Drury University in Springfield, MO. Yakov, who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with his master's degree in positive psychology in 2006, most recently taught a course at Missouri State University. Yakov says, "Teaching is the highlight of my life. Normally, my audiences see the show, enjoy it, and leave. The students come back the next day. Wow! What a concept!"
Yakov Smirnoff has been making people laugh for many years on television, in movies, concert appearances, on Broadway, and at his theater in Branson, Missouri. With his empirical research and studies he offers a unique insight with a comedic point of view on the very serious subject of love and laughter.
Yakov's personal mission statement is "To experience happiness and teach it with passion through comedy and sensitivity". "Out of my personal experience, I believe the information I'm sharing is the most important thing after learning how to meet our basic needs: food, shelter, and iPod," Yakov says. "My class is really about learning how to find happiness; you will learn…and laugh your Yak-Off!"
The course at Drury is being taught in conjunction with the psychology department and will incorporate positive psychology. The class will offer "several important points," Smirnoff said. "It teaches types of relationships and establishes the importance of laughter as a communication skill. It will also establish and teach how to use laughter as an aphrodisiac, laughter as a gauge of your relationship." The class will be a combination of lecture, role-playing, student interaction and a variety of additional activities.
"Living Happily Ever Laughter" taught by Yakov is open to students of any discipline. For more information on attending Yakov's class visit www.drury.edu/cgcs or call 417-873-7207. To learn more about Yakov visit www.loveandlaughter.com.
